How To: Make the Most of Eyeliner

Learn how to perfectly frame the mirrors of your soul (your eyes!)

When I think of eyeliner, I think of Grace Kelly, Sophia Loren, Audrey Hepburn and other Hollywood stars of the 50's and 60's. Quite simply, these women were not only fashion icons, but also truly timeless beauty icons for women around the world. Their makeup looks defined the era, and they were, without a doubt, the definition of glamour.

One day when I was very young back in the mountains of Greece, I decided I wanted to be just as glamorous. I took my mother's eyeliner from the drawer of her vanity table, and I started. I wanted a very thin, straight line, just like my movie idols. I've been wearing eyeliner ever since. I love the look so much - as much as I love living in Paris now

When I put that brush to my eyelid, my hands were shaking, my eyes were wide with anticipation, and I can definitely say my lines weren't so good - but with the help of a little cotton swab, I did it. I was so proud of what I did that I continued to raid my mother's eyeliner every day, and I saw the evolution day by day.

Here's how to create an amazing look for your eyes step by step. There aren't rules about how to create an eyeliner line. Every woman can find what's best for her - just create the look you like your way. That's the beauty of it!

  • Eye Cream. Begin every day by applying ELF Illuminating Eye Cream to brighten and depuff. I tap it around my eyes with my fingers, like playing the piano. I love this eye cream because it reduces dark circles, it's amazing for looking awake, it refreshes and restores radiance to tired eyes -- and makes my eyes look great.
  • Concealer. It adds light! I warm a little NYX Dark Circle Concealer (it's natural and organic!) in my fingers and that makes it easier to apply the right dose under my eyes.
  • Ready for Eyeliner! For this I use Lottie London's AM to PM Kohl Eyeliner Pencil and ELF Cosmetics Cream Eyeliner. I find that the easiest way to create the perfect line is to start with just a little product on the brush, make the line, then add more if I want. Start from the inner corner of your closed eye and create a line on the top lashline. Open your eye and work to the outside, then work your way back in to get the shape you want. You can decide how long or how short you want the line.
  • Finishing Touches! Add Lottie's #CURLBOSS Mascara to my top and bottom lashes. Then, to frame the eyes and highlight the liner, shape your eyebrows. I use NYX Auto Eyebrow Pencil in Dark Brown, then I use NYX Makeup Setting Spray to make sure my eyebrows don't move.
